The HC-SR04 is a low-cost sonar distance sensor that measures object range by bouncing ultrasonic sound waves, just like bats or submarines. It's perfect for first-year engineering students adding obstacle avoidance or level sensing to Arduino robots or automation projects.
Sensor Specifications
- Range: 2–450 cm at 5V; 2–400 cm at 3.3V—accurate to ~3 mm resolution.
- Detection angle: Narrow <15° beam for focused measurements.
- Power: 5V logic (tolerates 3.3V); low current (~15 mA).
- Pins: VCC, GND, Trig (send 10µs pulse), Echo (pulse width = distance time-of-flight).
- Size: Compact 45 × 20 × 15 mm module with mounting holes.
- Condition: Like-new surplus from our Makerlab.
Usage Notes
- Typical projects: Robot bumpers, parking aids, or liquid level monitors.
- Code tip: Distance (cm) = (Echo pulse duration in µs × 0.034) / 2.
Note: Product size and dimensions may vary slightly.
